You can use the barcode feature of new 1.5.18.
Then an entry looks like:
Product name ; 2.90 # Barcode:123

You need to enable Barcode in configuration. Then during ordering you will see a barcode field, that always has keyboard focus.

Thank you very much, just one thing I think you didn't enter in this example my ID's of article, they are very important for us since we don't search an item by it's name, then rather by ID, and in the program if I want to select meal with ID for e.g. 78, do i type in search field just 78 or something else?

If the source system only allows three levels of hierarchy it is simple to put it in an Excel file or csv file. OrderSprinter is more powerful so that you can have unlimited number of levels to support deeper structures that are needed if you have a big menu,

In your case you need to transform the menu into this structure (based on your attached menu export I have written the entries for all categories, and for Speisen and Warme Vorspeisen I have already entered the products, the rest has to be filled by you):

Code: Alles auswählen

Speisen = KBF = 1 = RD
 Kalte Vorspeisen = KBF = 1 = RD
  Gemischte Käseplatte; 6,90
  Schafskäse; 7,90
  Ungarische Salami; 8,90
 Warme Vorspeisen = KBF = 1 = RD
  Balkan Omelette; 5,90
  Champignon Omelette; 5,90
  Schinken Omelette; 5,90
  Käse Omelette; 5,90
  Natur Omelette; 5,90
  Bauernfrühstück; 7,90
 Suppen = KBF = 1 = RD
 Salate = KBF = 1 = RD
 Kleine Speisen = KBF = 1 = RD
 Spezialitäten = KBF = 1 = RD
 Internationale Gerichte = KBF = 1 = RD
 Steaks = KBF = 1 = RD
 Aus Topf und Pfanne = KBF = 1 = RD
 Unsere Empfehlungen = KBF = 1 = RD
 Uns Hausspezialitäten = KBF = 1 = RD
 Fischgerichte = KBF = 1 = RD
 Beilagen = KBF = 1 = RD
 Nachspeisen = KBF = 1 = RD
Getränke = KBD = 1 = RD
 Warme Getränke = KBD = 1 = RD
 Alkoholfreie Getränke = KBD = 1 = RD
 Biere = KBD = 1 = RD
 Aperitifs = KBD = 1 = RD
 Whisky = KBD = 1 = RD
 Spirituosen = KBD = 1 = RD
 Liköre = KBD = 1 = RD
 Weissweine = KBD = 1 = RD
 Rotweine = KBD = 1 = RD
 Roseweine = KBD = 1 = RD
 Sekt = KBD = 1 = RD
Is is essential that you take care for the correct indentation! Once you have completed the menu, you can open the Administration view, open the panel "Database", there the panel "Menu". Paste the text into that window and apply the menu.

Stefan

Yes of course, I will attach the files, those are from Olympia Kasse 960 downloaded with their official sw from cache register.
About hierarchy, they have a fixed hierarchy in 3 levels, the top level they call it "WarenGruppen" (not sure the right translation) and it consists usualy of Food and Drinks, but of course you can put whatever u want, then thay have sub group called "PLU Gruppen" in which i put groups like, non alcoholic , beers, cold beverages, grill, etc, and the down level they call just "PLU", i call them articles or final prducts, like coke, mixed salad, wiener schnitzel etc.
I am attaching the 3 files mentioned, if u could make me a text that i could copy in the form u mentioned, I would be gratefull :)

The export that you did is for report of changes, and this should not used for import due to obvious reasons.

Nevertheless a csv import may be useful, but how do you indicate the hierarchical structure of a menu in csv? Maybe you can send me your csv or Excel so that I understand how you want to do that mapping?

Thank you for your answer, that is what I supposed are the only way, which I must point out are a little bit slow when you already have a menu from e.g cash register with 200 or 300 hundred items and copying them manually is a bit of annoying, because I already have all data from the cash register in excel or csv format, and converting my existing csv full menu to your format of csv export file would be literally 5 minute job, and if I only have option to import your format of csv file back to your app, I would finish the job of hours in a matter of minutes, All I have to substitute in your file is a column with product name short and long, the price , fix some values for taxes, groups of products and literally, my backup of menu would fit your format of csv within minutes.
When you plan to make an update I kindly ask you to reconsider that option, if something can be exported, why it can not be imported :) in same format.

Hello,

the data export functionality in the first section of the administration view is only for exporting history data: the German laws require that the complete configuration and its changes over the time must be visible for a time period of 10 years. Therefore I log all the changes in the menu, the general configurations and the user management and allow the log files to be output as csv.

To configure a menu you have to ways:
1. do it via the products view - which is suitable if you do only small changes, or
2. do it in the administration view.

To start inserting a full menu I recommend way 2: Thus log in with a user who has administration rights!!! In this case you will see at the bottom of the page a unfoldable area called "Database".. Unfold it and you will see as first panel "menu" which you can unfold again. If you open the legend you will see a description about the syntax (in German).

To start type in the menu in the form (and be careful that the indentations are correct)

Code: Alles auswählen

Food = KBF = 1 = RD
 Fastfood = KBF = 1 = RD
  Product 1; 2,90
  Product 2; 3,90
 Other category = KBF = 1 = RD
  Product 3; 1,90
  Product 4; 1,90
Drinks = KBD = 1 = RD
 Softdrinks = KBD = 1 = RD
  Drink 1; 1,90
  Drink 2; 1,90
and so on... At the end apply the menu.

To assign "extras" (variations resp. add-ons to a product) it is possible to use the administration view as well, but I recommend using the products view.

Regards,

Stefan

I saw in admin options under Data Export, you can export Product Data in csv, which is basicly a Menu of a restaurant.
But I can not find option to import such csv file with my own menu, which I already have in csv format, of course I would first make it compatible.
Is it the only way to create your own menu from going to option Data Base/Menu, and fill text area with all my items from my menu?
